In the early days of Chinese immigrant to Malaya, Chinese men often marry indigenous women for the convenience in business, resulting in the emergence of the Peranakan Chinese. The community has assimilated both Chinese and Malay cultures in various aspects, such as the Baba Malay language, Nyonya Kebaya and Nyonya cuisine.
