Summary: | This paper investigates the leadership styles of team managers of knowledge workers. Based on interviews with employees of a local bank, this qualitative study contributes to a better understanding of leadership styles in the field of knowledge management. The findings show that a discernible variety of leadership styles are employed by respondents, most commonly a people-centred style of leadership. However, regardless of the various leadership styles'observed, a central theme of trust emerges, acting as a common premise in the management of knowledge workers. This opens a new insight into our current understanding of leadership theory, and its applicability to the role of knowledge management. |
