One of the most commonly used applications of telepresence system is high end video conferencing. Other useful applications of telepresence system include reducing risk of working in hazardous environments, allowing sign language communication via video-telephony, for education purposes and even remote surgery. In this report, we will be looking at the design and development of three forms of teleoperation, namely through posture recognition, voice commands as well as convention joystick control of a mobile robot base. To achieve telepresence capability, a two way video communication as well as a two way audio transport has also been establish between the robotic base as well as the control computer.
