The quality of a building in a construction area is subject to various defects such as hollowness, cracks and misalignments. To deal with these problems, BCA is using a method which is able to evaluate the quality of the building. The method is known as Construction Quality Assessment System (CONQUAS). CONQUAS uses instruments and manually record these readings. It is a very tedious and time-consuming process that involves considerable manpower. This project will propose a robotic system designed to perform quality inspection tasks to reduce the need for human labour. As robotic systems in CONQUAS are very limited, the project aims to design an automated construction quality assessment robotic system that able to do quality inspection according to the needs of the industry in general. The ultimate objective is to reduce the time taken to make rounds, cut labour cost and increase assessment accuracy. The product will consist of different types of sensors for specific purposes in the inspection process from data collection and evaluation of collected data. The design of this product in the project will be developed and further enhanced based on the concepts of a previous design for a similar purpose.
