Description
Summary:This project seeks to build a collision detection system prototype that can be used in everyday situations for Personal Mobility Devices. The project will be built primarily based on an ultrasonic sensor and a Raspberry Pi computing platform. Various other types of ranging sensors will be evaluated and compared with ultrasonic sensors to determine which will be best for PMDs. The choice of materials used to build the prototype will be listed and described. Following that, the methodology of putting the materials together, testing methods, and data collection methods will be presented. The collected data will be evaluated to determine if the prototype as well as the components chosen are able to effectively meet the project objectives. In closing, several functions that would benefit the project will be considered for future work on this project. These additional functions would be briefly evaluated based on their pros and cons, and how much they would improve the project.
