Summary:The purpose of this research was to compare organizational cynicism and intention to quit among nurses with different levels of positive orientation and job stress. A descriptive research design was used. The sample was 309 registered nurses working in public and private hospitals. The research instruments were (1) a demographic questionnaire; (2) a positive orientation questionnaire; (3) an organizational cynicism questionnaire; (4) a job stress questionnaire; (5) a turnover to quit questionnaire. Data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics and One-way MANOVA. The results were as follows: Nurses with high level of positive orientation had lower level of intention to quit than nurses with low level of positive orientation (p < .01). Nurses with high level of positive orientation had lower level of organizational cynicism than nurses with low level of positive orientation (p < .01). Nurses with high level of job stress had higher level of organizational cynicism than nurses with low level of job stress (p < .01). There was no difference in intention to quit among nurses with different levels of job stress.
