To improve the primary school students' learning efficiency of hanyu pinyin, an innovative framework based on constructionism theory, which highlights the learner centered approach, serious play and simulation games is proposed for creating an active learning environment in classroom. The 2nd grade students at Puttisopon School was the target group. The learning process and students' learning outcome were evaluated by the observation of class participants, interview from students and the teacher. The data analysis was based on the statistical method of pre-test and post-test using dependent sample t-test. The result showed that the students' learning efficiency of hanyu pinyin can be improved under the active learning environment created by the proposed framework.
