Gonzales, Luis Jose Mari R. Emerging 21st century learning tools such as micro-lectures are being popularized due to its multidimensional nature of transferring competencies which are demands of the society to learners today. This study utilized quasi-experimental approach through quantitative and qualitative analysis addressing effects in academic performance, perceptions to learner’s motivation and student engagement, and implications of self-regulation of learning in promoting citizen science with application of educational models such as MELCs, ARCS, 7E Instructional, Rolfe’s Reflective, and Empathy Development among students. This study concluded micro-lectures as teaching strategy for information dissemination regarding endemic plants fostering citizen science among learners through raised social awareness and ethno-botanical knowledge based on perceptions among the participants. Results showed students that combined micro-lectures as the most engaging compared to audio and visual cohorts. Combined micro-lectures helped students focus more and understand topics being discussed in a short amount of time. Citizen science was evident among participants after utilizing micro-lectures. Students became more involved in preservation and conservation of endemic plants. Participants are able to identify local endemic plants and plan for future sustainable actions in preserving these plants. Quantitative findings show that micro-lectures provided a positive effect towards academic performance among pre-test, long examinations and post-test examination scores through Paired t-test. Moreover, MANCOVA suggested variations among variables are affected drastically based on time-series approach, Independent T-test reinforced the context on combined micro-lectures as most significant mode of transmission improving self-regulation of learning skills, Lastly, correlation was also exhibited between self-efficacy and student engagement towards self-regulation through Pearson’s Correlation. 2022-07-04T07:00:00Z text application/pdf https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etdb_scied/1 https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1000&context=etdb_scied Science Education Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Distance education Science—Study and teaching—Activity programs Academic achievement Science and Mathematics Education |
