Description
Summary:This paper investigates how Self-criticism affects Job satisfaction and explores the mechanism behind this link – Psychology Capital (which consists of Optimism, Resilience, Hope and Self-efficacy). Asians are self-critical by nature and thus, it is important to examine how Self-criticism affects both Psychological Capital and Job satisfaction. This paper also looks at how Psychological Capital can be reduced to a simpler construct when used on Asian samples. One hundred and fifty-seven participants took part in this study. The results show that Self-criticism led to lower Job satisfaction with Psychological Capital acting as a partial mediator. In addition, it was found that Psychological Capital could potentially be reduced to having only three components when being used on Asians – Resilience, Hope and Self-efficacy .
