Synthetic route to quinolines via microwave irradiation assisted triflic acid-catalyzed friedländer annulation.
An efficient triflic acid-catalyzed Friedländer annulation of 2-aminobenzophenone and ketone to afford quinolines under microwave irradiation is reported herein. The methodology gives a variety of quinolines with moderate to high yields (30-90%), achieved with 5 mol% of the Brønsted acid.
